Adhesive capsulitis, often known as frozen shoulder, is the stiffness, discomfort, and limited range of motion in your shoulder that may occur after an injury. The movement of the shoulder gets challenging and painful as the shoulder capsule and tissues surrounding the joint harden.

When you cease using your shoulder due to discomfort, an accident, or a chronic medical condition like diabetes or arthritis, you may run into developing a frozen shoulder. A frozen shoulder can develop if you don't maintain your shoulder's complete range of motion.

Frozen shoulder occurs:
  • • After surgery or injury.
  • • Most often in people 40 to 70 years old.
  • • More often in women (especially in postmenopausal women) than men.
  • • Most often in people with chronic diseases.
